Status -> slot 12 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER

Clicking on slot 12 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER from the Status menu will display the following information for this switch line card.

This webpage for the 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER switch line card is subdivided into categories: general information, uc, and 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER. Each section/category contains a variety of counters and state bits related to the operation or health of the monitoring line card. As a general rule, a non-zero value for a state bit or counter should be investigated as it may indicate an abnormality in the functioning of the hardware.

By default, this web page displays the information in a condensed format, and you must click on the individual components (e.g., voltage, temperature) in order to view the details for each. If you prefer to view the verbose output, click on all in the top righthand corner of the web page. To return to the condensed format for the output, you will need to go back to a previous web page, and then return to this web page.

Click on the name of the counter/state bit below and the hyperlink will forward to the glossary for its definition and a list of possible causes for the non-zero value.

The general information section of the webpage includes:

The uc section provides information pertaining to the health of the microcontroller on the switch line card.

The 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER section provides information on the individual components of the switch line card. The Ethernet/Myrinet line cards (10G-SW16LC-6C2ER) have two XFP ports that are labeled "Ethernet". These ports will interoperate with any other 10G Ethernet NIC or switch port, regardless of the manufacturer. In addition, the line cards have six unmarked 10GBase-CX4 ports, which are 10G Myrinet.

For demonstration purposes, we shall examine 10ge_port 0, cx4_port 2, and 10g_xbar16 0 and the data available for each.

10ge_port 0

From the slot 12 10G-2SW16LC-6C2ER webpage, if we then click on 10ge_port 0, for example, the following diagnostic information will appear for this port.

If any of the switch counters report a non-zero value, then click on its name below and the hyperlink will forward to the glossary for its definition and a list of possible explanations for a non-zero value.

If any of the switch counters report a non-zero value, then click on its name below and the hyperlink will forward to the glossary for its definition and a list of possible explanations for a non-zero value.

cx4_port 2

From the slot 12 10G-SW16LC-6C2ER webpage, if we then click on cx4_port 2, for example, the following diagnostic information will appear for this port.

Question: It says port 2 on this page, but when you click on it, it says port 0. Why?

From this output, we will see the following variables and counters.

10g_xbar16 0

Clicking on 10g_xbar16 0 and we will see:
